I’m off this AM for Pittsburgh. Since school closed, except for a few meetings with the Big Dogs back in my district in suburban Chicago, I have been at this rental cottage across the Lake.
The Lake Michigan water is still chilly, at least on the Michigan side. But the beach has been great. And I just finished Confessions, a memoir by Kan Sheng Guo, who lived in China through the victory of the Communist Party in 1949, through the Great Leap Forward and the Cutlural Revolution. He wasn’t a dissident so much as a slacker.
Tomorrow I’ll be in Philadelphia.
