No hiding behind the farmworkers.

There goes Joe again, (sigh).

On the latest blog on the Republicrat website Democrats for Education Reform, Joe Williams once more tries to use the United Farm Workers as his shield against those who have busted him as the anti-union creep that he is.

But we’ll get back to that in a minute.

First, a point about his reference to me as “the artist formerly known as PREA Prez.”

Joe. I’m 59 years old. If I get the cultural reference, it’s too old.

It also doesn’t make any sense. See, I’m not “formerly known as PREA Prez,” Joe. I’m known as that now. That’s my blog’s title. That would be now. See how that doesn’t really work?

Actually, the artist formerly known as “sourpuss” would make more sense.

OK. Now for substance. Although it doesn’t get better.

First, the Joel Packer reference. For those who don’t know, Joel is one of the lead guys in the NEA in Washington on NCLB. Joel just says that when it comes to NCLB, people fall all over the political map. That’s true. But hardly the stop the presses material you seem to think it is.

As for the Farm Worker letter. What the letter says is that the UFW supports some things about NCLB, opposes other things and is critical of the DOE for not implementing or funding other parts. Of course, that is true of the AFT and the NEA.

There’s not national consensus on NCLB. Joe, that’s hardly the stop the presses material that you and Andy Rotherham think it is either. It’s not really a “doozie” as you so lamely put it.

But two things:

You can find no satisfaction in the UFW letter. Because here is where the teachers’ union and the rest of the labor movement haven’t broken ranks. The UFW doesn’t support vouchers, or corporate charter schools, or top down business model reform plans. That is the DFER agenda. That is your agenda, Joe. And no amount of Google searching, or phone calls will find any union support for that.

Second. What happened to your claim that Chavez was bribed by the AFL-CIO? Why no mention of that anymore? Or didn’t that come up when you asked for a copy of the UFW testimony? So silent on this. So cowardly.

Elvis has left the building.

Wait. Elvis is back. Update: Called him out on his unsupported (no source material, Andy) claim that Cesar Chavez was bought for a couple of bucks to take a postion he didn’t believe in. And so, called out, Joe repeated it. Let the record show.
