The NY Post reports:
Teachers at a Bronx elementary school gave a surprising response to a bonus plan that would pay them roughly $3,000 each for schoolwide student gains: Thanks, but no thanks.

Too bad UFT President Randi Weingarten can’t think of things like that. She’d originally promised us 25/55 in exchange for accepting the very worst contract I’d ever seen. Then she saw fit to tack a merit pay scheme onto it, surrender back the crappy 2% raise she just won, and accept 27/55 for anyone not in the system.
Circulars in the newspaper trumpet “Buy one, get one free.” While it’s certainly a new wrinkle, the whole “pay for several, get one” tactic has yet to catch on with most of the population.
