Columbus teachers file grievance against testing mania.
Earlier this week I reported on the successful grievance filed by the Elgin Teachers Association on behalf of their social studies teachers against the disruption of their teaching by test prep.
Now, in what might be a trend, the Columbus Education Association has filed a grievance against the testing itself.
The Columbus, Ohio Dispatch reports:
The teachers union filed a formal grievance against the district in October, stating that administering and grading the tests has significantly increased teachers’ duties in violation of the union contract.
Teachers also have complained that exams overlap, sometimes testing students repeatedly on the same concepts.
Tip of the hat to the CEA.
