The Quick and the Ed’s Kevin Carey called me unhinged the other day for suggesting that his sponsor, the think tank Ed Sector, is consistently anti-teacher union.
Today, the Quick and the Ed’s Erin Dillon says this about Secretary Spellings retreat from the sinking NCLB:
Hopefully this change will bring about some good innovation and thinking in the pilot states, and help guide national policy on how to address the needs of the schools in the most trouble, without forgetting that those schools in which one or two groups of students aren’t reaching proficiency still need assistance and accountability for improvement.
Delusional.
Oh. And while we’re at it, why don’t we hope that this change will bring peace and happiness throughout the world and that pretty little flowers will grow and teachers will earn a salary comparable to those with similar degrees and experience as folks in the private sector and that no longer will there be top-down decision making and centralized control in which the experience of the teacher, students and parents are ignored, and no longer will state liars lie about their drop-out rate and….well you get the idea.
