I’m not writing the usual Three over coffee today.
We picked up some java on the run as we headed to the northern suburbs of Chicago to pick up Ulysses, our new Wheaten Terrier.
Why did we name him Ulysses? Well, Wheatens are Irish. We thought of James Joyce. But I’m not saying, “Sit, James Joyce! Stay!”
Joyce wrote Ulysses, the journey of Leopold Bloom. And Ulysses is also the Roman name for Odysseus of Greek myth. In the ancient Greek story, Odysseus took ten years to return home from the Trojan Wars.
Ulysses is home.
