NY school boss can raise lobby dollars on city time.
NY schools boss, Joel Klein can raise money for the Education Equality Project on city time. The EEP is a lobby group set up by Klein and Michelle Rhee among others, to advance their anti-union, privatization, centralized control schemes.
Apparently New York has a Conflict of Interest Board. The board had decided that Klein raising $1.5 million on city time for the EEP is not a conflict of interest.
Council of School Supervisors and Administrators President Ernie Logan, who is himself a signatory of the Education Equality Project’s platform, called the fund-raising arrangement “the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard.”
It kind of makes you wonder what the NY Conflict of Interest Board WOULD consider a conflict of interest?
