Walking the line in Ottawa, Illinois.

I look at this picture and I think back to just six years ago next month when our local in Park Ridge walked out for a week over the issue of health insurance.
For many of my colleagues, they could never have imagined that on a cold November morning they would be walking in front of their schools carrying picket signs instead of being inside teaching students.
Like the board of education in Ottawa that has refused to talk, our board then was composed of a group of arrogant and provocative folks who thought they could intimidate a group of 360 teachers. It didn’t work in this town and we hope for the best in Ottawa.
To the teachers in OTHSEA, know you have friends all across the state.
