Kankakee teachers are walking the line today.
January 19, 2010

Many of the 373 union teachers represented by the Kankakee Federation of Teachers were on the picket lines Tuesday morning. The union and district failed to reach an agreement to avoid a strike late last week, and on Monday the district canceled classes for today in anticipation of the walkout. 5,800 students were not in their classrooms.
The union and the district reached a tentative agreement December 15th, but the union membership rejected the proposal two days later. There has been no further board proposal since then.
You may send a message of support on the union’s Facebook page: I support Kankakee teachers!
