15,000 rally in Springfield for funding, chanting, “Do your job.”

April 21, 2010

43 members of the 380 member Park Ridge Education Association joined with 15,000 others, members of the state’s employee unions including the IEA, AFSCME, SEIU, and the IFT, along with hundreds of others from local community organizations that rely on state funding. We surrounded the Illinois Capitol building where the General Assembly was in session.

“Do your job,” we yelled. “Do your job.”

That job includes passing HB 174, which would raise revenue for schools and the state’s social services.

It was the largest rally in the history of Springfield.
