From today’s Del Valle for Mayor press release:
City Clerk and mayoral candidate Miguel del Valle traversed Chicago today, arriving in the early afternoon at the Swedish-American Museum on Clark Street for an impromptu rally of North Side supporters. The occasion: two more endorsements, six this week, from State Representative Robyn Gabel and labor lawyer, author, and progressive leader Tom Geoghegan.
“When you, Mr. and Mrs. Chicago, go feed the meters and pay another round of tribute to Morgan Stanley, remember one thing: If you want to do something about this on February 22, punch the line that has Miguel del Valle’s name on it!” declared Mr. Geoghegan, one of the lawyers representing the IVI-IPO in its suit to renegotiate the parking meter contract.
North Side Campaign Coordinator and Heartland Café owner Katy Hogan introduced the candidate by praising his commitment to small business owners, many of whom remember Clerk del Valle listening to their concerns.
“We hear a lot about small business being the engine of the economy. When will we see government support for that kind of business?” North Side Campaign Coordinator and Heartland Café owner Katy Hogan said. “I’ll tell you when: When [Miguel del Valle] gets elected!”
Rep. Gabel recalled first working with del Valle during Harold Washington’s mayoral campaign. The newly elected representative of the 18th District has committed herself to campaign finance reform, public education, and affordable health care.
“I know he will be someone who represents all the neighborhoods and businesses, especially small business,” Rep. Gabel said. “He is someone I truly trust.”
After the press conference, Clerk del Valle walked the streets of Andersonville, speaking with residents and small business owners. In the afternoon, he will spend time with West Side block clubs.
Go Bears!
