Chicago mayor race is a cash cow for Drama-Rahma and Chico.
Financial disclosure: Anne and I have donated $200 to Miguel Del Valle’s election campaign.
I felt pretty good about that until I read about the dollars flowing to Drama-Rahma and Gery Chico. Thousands of dollars literally every minute.
First came the millions. Those dollars had to be delivered to Drama-Rahma and Chico before January 1st when the new state finance reform law went into effect.
Mayor candidate Gery Chico’s recent endorsement by the Chicago firefighters union has also fattened his campaign fund. The union donated $25,000 to his campaign. New limits on contributions that took effect Jan. 1 limit political action committees to giving no more than $50,000 per election.
Other contributors chipped in an additional $42,000 in recent days, Chico’s campaign reported to state election officials.
Meanwhile, Rahm Emanuel netted another $75,000 in campaign funds in recent days. Emanuel has raised four times as much as Chico, his nearest competitor in campaign fundraising.
Many of Emanuel’s most recent donors gave the maximum $5,000 that’s now the limit for individual donors per election.

We’ve given about the same amount to MdV. Now, if another 10,000 of our friends and neighbors would give $200 bucks…
