With teacher retirement hanging in the balance, legislators take a holiday break.
How nice for them.
The current session of the Illinois General Assembly ends on Tuesday.
There is no state budget. Which social programs are being cut and by how much still remain to be voted on. And they have put off a vote on Senate Bill 512, the Cross/Madigan teacher pension killer.
But before they took a holiday break, they took care of themselves and their business friends.
The Democrats did their every-ten-year redraw of state and congressional districts, heavily favoring the majority Democrats.
And they gave the business community the workman’s compensation bill they wanted.
Friends first.
So, maybe they’ll get around to voting on the pension bill when they get back from their holiday barbecues. Either before or after they cut funding for community child care facilities.
On the other hand, it gives us another opportunity to call their offices: 1 888 412 6570.
