In reality, a high class debate for the Mayor would be one in which he didn’t end every other sentence with “fuck you,” which he reportedly said to a top ranking union official the other day.

What Emanuel really means by high class debate is collective bargaining, which in order to work must necessarily go on behind closed doors, allowing each side to move and compromise without losing face or causing a hardening of positions.

Instead, Rahm sends his CPS CEO JC Brizard to Chicago Tonight to let slip accidentally on purpose what his and Emanuel’s position is, attempting to paint the CTU into a public corner.

Some labor lawyer could tell you whether that constitutes an unfair labor practice. Me? I just think it stinks.

High class indeed. I know regulars who hang out at Whirlaway Karzma, the old guy Polish bar on Fullerton, who would be embarrassed to be seen sitting next to a low life schmuck like Rahm. And they would sit next to just about anybody. Even me.

To CTU President Karen Lewis’ credit, she hasn’t allowed herself to be boxed in by the high class Rahm. “Our contract runs until next June,” she said. “We’ll talk about a longer day then.”
