Not just another pension post. Well. Maybe it is.
First things first.
Call 888-412-6570 and follow the prompts. You know the drill. Say “no change to TRS.” At this point the arguments have been made. The talking points have been talked. What counts is numbers of people calling.
Now the rant.
I just got an email form IEA telling me that a pension bill is likely to be introduced in the General Assembly when the final days of the veto session take place starting November 8th. The IEA is issuing a Call to Action.
Shocker.
Not.
Did anyone think the Ty Fahner and the Civic Committee were spending all that time and money on Illinois is Broke because the Cubs and White Sox weren’t in the playoffs and they had nothing else to do?
Just last week IEA head of lobbying Jim Reed was telling members to sit tight because there was no bill.
There is still no bill. But who doesn’t think it is likely that there will be a bill? And who didn’t think that a week ago?
What the hell?
If Cross, Madigan and Fahner win this thing next week there ought to be a lot of members asking a lot of questions about the level of competence in the Springfield office.
Even if they lose and we can stop it again.
RA in March in Chicago.
Run as a delegate.
Ask questions.
Demand answers.
It’s our dues money paying for this crap.
Call 888-412-6570 and follow the prompts. Act like your pension depends on it.
It does.
I was part of the CTU which is part of some obscure outfit called the IFT.
Combined they represent most Illinois teachers. If either group took the time
To read SB512 they would have noticed it can be called until November 10
Which just happens to be the last day of the veto secession. We should all
Be afraid.
