I saw that this morning Fred. I say keep them hoppin’ by any means nescessary, except means that will hurt the movement and detract from its main message. I’m worried about too much violence no mattter who perpetrates it, because we should know by now (at least I do) now that IT will become the main message. Rolling back new debit card fees= good thing, Congresspeople signing on to OWS principles= good thing, so keep the pressure on.

I agree with the non-violent practice of the OWS protests. I don’t understand what you mean by “no matter who perpetrates it,” since the OWS has been non-violent in every city and the police have not. The fact that the Oakland Police Department shot the Iraq veteran, Scott Olsen in the face and then fired on those who came to his assistance is an important message. Should we ignore it? This is a movement for economic and political democracy, including the right to protest. In every city where Occupations have occurred, the political leaders, both Democrats and Republicans, have moved to curb them, often violently, arrests now in the thousands. Should we ignore that so as not to get off whatever is the main message?

If some cop shoots me in the face during a protest, please treat it as the main message.

Scott Olsen is an extreme case ,and yes we must be supportive of him and the protesters against the mobilization and tactics of the cops. However, these cops are being well paid to disrupt these events so that people will just go home and get off the front pages. ( TPTB are not happy with this movement).

Their biggest mistake AFTER Olsen was to shoot into the crowd wearing riot gear, and making themselves look guilty, but they don’t care.. All that aside, if violence becomes the issue Wall St will be thrilled. If I see a cop near me in riot gear, I’m not yelling pig, screw the man, or throwing any bottles, I’m moving my butt. so that I can return the next day. People already have the right to assemble, so is your mission TO assemble, or do you focus on your main message? this is why I also like efforts other than protesting in the street, like moving your bank accounts to smaller banks. Fred- if they are being blocked physically from assembling screw them, go onto the internet and mobilize some other way. I’m too old for that kind of confrontation, and trust me that WILL become the message.

Adding on: just the fact that they COME in riot gear is saying they are ready for confrontation, so that point can be made. Winter is coming and folks cannot be out in the cold much longer, so my real point is fake them out and find other ways to get the same messages across..These people are very courageous, but also a smart bunch and tech savvy. I made this point on FB- please don’t go into a bank as a group to close your acounts, JUST to show unity. Do it at another time and sporadically so that there ARE no cops to deal with. It’s not being a chicken, it’s using your head.

Maybe the answer to the police action should rest with accountabilty, and the request should be made sooner than later..This is a good article:

I LOVE this video! Brilliant! However, don’t y’all think that if the banks start to receive heavy mail that they have to pay postage on that they will, in the end, pass that cost on to their customers? Or–worse still–to make up for any new $$$ THEY would have to put out (no matter how paltry)–they would lay off more lower level employees.

Because–as we all know–the CEO/COO still gets HIS/HER six figure (or >) salary,
    no matter what.

Fred, thanks again for the video. Guess what?! The first offer (after watching this yesterday) to which I had the pleasure of responding was (drum roll here)– BANK. OF. AMERICA!!!!! What FUN I had ripping up their magnanimous offer of a credit line & card!

…And ripping it up into itsy, bitsy shreds and stuffing it into their Business Reply Mail envelope to SEND BACK TO THEM!!!! Ahahahahahahahahah!

*Don’t forget to remove everything with your name & address first, shred it all, & burn it in your fireplace. I know people who’ve had their credit stolen when someone took a credit application & affixed their names/address + other info. & fraudulently obtained credit cards.
