Koch brothers in Michigan. Dirty little secrets.
When it comes to the anti-union right-wingers in Michigan, there is no such thing as transparency.
There are lots of dirty little secrets. There are hidden funders. And there are outright lies.
Neither the Mackinac Center nor their little brother, the Education Action Group will release the names of their funders.
The Mackinac Center filed as a 501(c)3 non-profit with the IRS swearing that it does not engage in lobbying activities.
But yesterday’s reveal of secret emails between State Representative Tom McMillin (R-Rochester Hills) and the Center’s senior legislative analyst, Jack McHugh show that the Macknac Center lobbies heavily to get the Michigan teachers union outlawed.
McMillan has just replaced Paul Scott as Chairman of the Michigan House Education Committee. Scott needed replacement after he was recalled by his constituents who were fed up after finding out he was just a water carrier for the Koch brothers and the Mackinac Center.
Interestingly, the same fate may face McMillan. Here’s a video tape of a town hall meeting between McMillan and his constituents back in March. They tried to ask about his relationship with ALEC, the corporate funded association of state legislature members that coordinates and writes corporate legislation. He’s not exactly responsive.
