New year’s eve coffee.
December 31 and it will reach nearly 50 degrees today in Chicago.
It has been a few years since Anne and I have stayed up until midnight on New Year’s Eve.
It has been a few years since we went to a party. Most of our contemporaries don’t stay up until midnight any more either.
It has been a few years since we went out to dinner on New Year’s Eve. Our neighborhood favorite, Lula, is offering a $70 fixed price multi-course plus wine pairing. Too much money. Too much food. Too much. Too much.
We will make some shrimp cocktail, put together some cheese and crackers and open a bottle of wine. We’ll watch some stupid romantic comedy dvd we bought for ten bucks at Best Buy. We will probably turn it off about half way through.
Then we will go downstairs, flip the switch on the gas fireplace and put on an Al Green CD.
We will dance to Lay Your Head on My Pillow.
Happy New Year to you all.
