Creepy push polls.
Nobody calls anymore except people asking for money for something and polls.
My communications are by text or email. And I keep up with the kids and grand kids by Facebook.
When the phone does ring, like most folks these days, I check the caller ID.
But this time I wasn’t thinking and picked it up.
“Anne Klonsky?”
Who is calling?
“Fred Klonsky?”
Who is calling?
“This is blah blah research. Do you have a minute to answer three questions?”
Hmmm. Okay.
“In Illinois, abortion is legal. Do you support the current right to abortion or do you support laws to restrict abortion?”
I strongly favor the right of women to make their own reproductive choices including the right to safe abortions.
“Okay. Toni Berrios has long been an outspoken champion of the right to abortion…”
No she hasn’t. I’ve lived in the 39th district for years. I’ve never heard Toni Berrios speak out on the right to abortion ever. I don’t know how she votes, but to call her “outspoken” is absurd. She hasn’t been outspoken on anything. The only reason she is the present State Rep is because she is the daughter of Joe Berrios…
Are you getting this all down?
The caller laughed. I laughed.
Look, I said. I’m voting for Will Guzzardi. But I’m sure you realize that.
“Yep,” the push pollster said.
We both hung up.
But then I thought to myself, “What if I had said I was anti-choice? Would Toni Berrios suddenly have been an ‘outspoken’ opponent of the right to abortion. I’ll never know.
