We are in the midst of a challenging campaign season and one very important election has broad implications for our membership and organizational power. Rudy Lozano is running for state representative in the newly created 21st district. He is a former educator, union organizer, and community activist. His opponent, Sivana Tabares, came out of nowhere and is backed by the UNO charter network. She is running on a campaign of merit pay for teachers and privatization of our schools. Quite simply, Sivana Tabares is a union buster. We need you to volunteer for Rudy’s campaign and canvass or phone-bank on Saturday or Sunday after 12 noon for any day(s) over the next three weekends. We would like you to report to 4425 South Harlem Avenue, Stickney, Illinois (walk to the entrance in the back of the building to inquire about your assignment). You will likely be assigned to canvass one of the following areas: Garfield Ridge, Riverside, Stickney, Lyons or Summit. This is a very important election and we need your support.
