- Who Wins This Game?
This morning, hearing about the Republican convention being held in Tampa. I was struck by this: (and it’s a jarring example of how far we have stayed from reality and our concern for each other). “We built this” is the Republican theme, referring to a hockey center that they are convening in, built with 62% of the funds coming from the government. The irony/concern is not regarding the politics of the statement. The concern is over our values—We built a HOCKEY RINK for well over a hundred million dollars in a tropical climate? With government tax dollars? Am I the only one that sees this as a major problem with our cultural values? It’s things like this that reinforce that idea that government has lost it’s way.
