Excuse my ignorance, but what does it mean to say a strike is “illegal”? What happens if teachers (or whoever) strike illegally? Are they simply replaced with scabs? Jailed? Disappeared? What exactly are we talking about here?

It would depend on the judge’s order. Typically the judge could order the union to have it’s members return to work, with fines for refusing to follow the injunction. The union’s leaders could also face jail time for refusing to obey the injunction.

Tried to leave a comment earlier that went into the ozone of some planet . . .

What a great drawing. Yours? It would make a great poster, perhaps as a fund-raiser, to raise money for a scholarship fund for someone who wants to be a teacher . . . or a union organizer or lawyer.

Of course the bus company in Montgomery sued for an injunction to end the strike organized by the Montgomery Improvement Association, headed by a very young Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in his first pulpit assignment. What in the heck was their prayer for relief? Were they asking that people be forced to ride the bus? Now I’m curious, and I’ll have to look it up somewhere . . .

        You’ll have prints available?

I think people need to spread it far and wide.
