Aaron Swartz. RIP. How the kids fought for civil liberties and pissed off the Feds.
January 13, 2013
Aaron Swartz was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday. Apparently it was suicide.
His family issued this statement:
“Aaron’s death is not simply a personal tragedy. It is the product of a criminal justice system rife with intimidation and prosecutorial overreach. Decisions made by officials in the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s office and at MIT contributed to his death.”

Such a sad loss of a brilliant young man. The video is highly worth watching to the end. You’ll see the parallels to any of our causes – most currently, the pension funding problem in Illinois. Aaron’s commentary of each person taking responsibility for defeating bad bills was eerie. Who among us imagined just a few years ago the dire consequences of what legislators propose in the name of good government would be so uncomfortably close to our own homes?
Well, this wasn’t a kid, this was a man who fought for liberty and died because of it. So let’s not forget that.
Agreed. No offense was intended.
