The in box. Maria Pappas’ phony tax bill.
Property tax payers in Cook County received their tax bills this past week. Tax Collector Maria
Pappas chose to include data allegedly about public pension costs on the bill.
Hi Fred,
After seeing her terrible interview on WTTW the other night and the self-serving nature of her new disclosure law I looked into it and have found that most of what the school Districts are reporting to Pappas are not related to TRS but are IMRF debt.
The TRS debt is not a debt of the school district but of the state of Illinois so it is not reported. So even though IMRF is 85 to 100% funded, over a period of 30 or 40 years the funding ratio looks bad. I am sure this debt is going to be attributed to the teachers and TRS and in fact it is not. Most people will not know this and just assume it is the teachers
I have yet to find a school District that is reporting any TRS debt to Pappas on the tax bills. It is all IMRF and then some health insurance debt.
Enclosed are some screen shots but this info is available at …
http://cookcountytreasurer.com/taxingdistrictsearch.aspx
..and then search by agency name and enter a school District number such as, 64, 63, 207 or any other. You will see almost all the debt is to IMRF.

So, another person to vote out of office when the time comes…
Thanks for getting us this info….attorneys and accountants who look into this issue are sure to find many “spins” as they try to “control the narrative” by skewing the numbers and the facts…”.Remember USA…United States of Statistics!!” as Jon Stewart says…
Thanks for the info! [btw, it's Maria Pappas. Not Irene

Early Sunday cobwebs. Thanks.
