  1. Seems like this action was warranted. Civility in public sets a positive example for children. Ranting and raving never gets results.

    1. You might have a point if anything else anyone has tried to do to reach the Board had gotten results. When thousands of people pack “hearings” unanimously demanding not to close schools and the Board turns around and closes and the schools saying they had “strong” community approval, I guess I’m fresh out of alternative ideas. You got some?

    2. I think the Board may have been shocked. It may have finally have occurred to them that ordinary parents, who have until now been uninvolved – it may have occurred to the Board that these parents might get upset, might take action. I doubt the Board are anywhere near changing course, just shocked. It’s a start, I think.

      Most people have simply accepted what the authorities have told them. That was the strength of the Democratic Machine. “Activists” were a trouble making minority. This is something new, something not in the old equation. The majority may be starting to stir. There must be a limit to what they can take.

      Maybe Rahm is finally pushing them over the edge.
