It’s funny. My son is 3. We have tons of books we get from students, parents, family, garage sales, giveaways, etc. I’ve read that book a few times, and thought – while some of the words are big (not rare for a children’s book) – that it’s a nice story about workers exercising some power to ensure their needs are fulfilled. And of course, the damn ducks have to get greedy and make the owner regret giving his workers anything! 😉
But it was published in 2000. I though, “surely, some crazy group would have expressed anger by now.” Oh, 11 years later is a good time, I suppose.
Perish forbid we should teach our children to organize and try to get what they need. That’s subversive.
