Isn’t Bentley under investigation for some weird & wild stuff (as reported numerous times by Rachel Maddow–although not such a fan anymore)?
He fired the Alabama A.G., I believe, because he (the A.G.) had uncovered dubious relations w/a Bentley state employee, which had allowed her to run some things she had no business running, as she was not an elected official.

Isn’t there a civil rights suit there. Perhaps they figure it could not be settled in time to screw up their plans for the November election.
