Secret emails: Cullerton’s pension attorney advises Rahm on how to cut city pensions using the “consideration” argument. They will lose in court.

As a result of the Better Government Association law suit, we have a copy of the email that Senate President John Cullerton sent to Mayor Rahm Emanuel with an attachment from Cullerton’s pension attorney, Eric Madiar.

Madiar provides the legal basis for cutting benefits using the “consideration” argument.

  2. Fred,
How does everyone get paid when the payors are all bankrupt?

Saw old college buddies over weekend. Their kids have young families and make decent livings. they also used to live in Illinois. Have moved to Wisc and Ind respectively. Savings on real estate taxes was “huge”. Still work in Illinois but one is looking to change that also. Just what we want Fred, young productive members of society leaving the state. Latest census info shows this is no longer something to happen in future. The future is now.
Note that the Wisc move was to a state with higher income tax rates and they still came out ahead.

    Food for thought, or not.
