Under his watch Paul Vallas covered up for a pedophile teacher. Now he wants to be Mayor?

In the continuing unraveling of the child abuse stories at CPS, the Chicago Tribune has now come across reports of a cover-up involving former CPS CEO Paul Vallas.

I have no clue what some people find appealing about the guy. It might be nothing more than his skin color.

As the architect of Chicago school reform under Mayor Daley, partnered with Arne Duncan for a time, he was a camera hog and an educational disaster.

His ties to the SUPES scandal that sent CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett to prison still have not been fully explored by the press.

HIs disastrous mostly abbreviated school leadership roles in Philly, Bridgeport and New Orleans have been well documented.

There is little doubt that his choice by Pat Quinn as a running mate in their race against Bruce Rauner was a contributing factor in Rauner’s victory.

But possible covering up for child molestors?

He has not responded to the Trib story.

What ever else might be in store for this guy, he should get out of the Chicago mayor’s race.

Now.

  1. “I have no clue what some people find appealing about the guy. It might be nothing more than his skin color.”

It’s 2018 not 1955. Stop throwing the race card like it’s a plaything or a boomerang. You have a responsibility to report facts. Our country is in worse shape because people like you use crap like this as dog whistles. Liberals do it just as much as conservatives.

Before you go off postulating, I am openly gay, a racial minority, and someone who cares more on the character of an individual than the cookie cutter container that loud mouths try to peg people into.

Paul Vallas may not be the most exciting thing to see or hear, but he’s decent and fair, which is more than one can say about Bruce Rauner and half of the other putzes that are fahkakaed things up for the city, the state, and this nation!

Keep this blog a little more high brow please!

    1. You’re defending a man who while he was CPS CEO ignored a report of child molestation by an employee. If that is going high brow, I’ll stay low.

    2. .”…but he’s decent & fair?” FLaT (appropriate acronym; you may still think the world it flat), how is your reading comprehension? Just the title of this post: “Under His Watch Paul Vallas Covered Up for a Pedophile Teacher” says it all (well, almost all; the rest of the post offers up even more reasons why Vallas should NOT be mayor {or even dogcatcher, for that matter}).
And, if you’re just being critical of Fred, this was reported in an extensive (2 1’2 pages) story in today’s Chicago Tribune.
Thanks for this post, Fred, & keep ’em coming. I have been urging people involved in New Orleans, Philadelphia & Bridgeport, CT education (who well know just what havoc Paul Vallas had wrought {well, ALMOST wrought upon Bridgeport, but that’s another story, one where that city was saved by a wise judge & by Vallas’ arrogance}) to please write an editorial essay to both Chicago newspapers.
I believe the last poll showed him running second (even though all of the top 4 were polling in the teens), which is too scary.
As you stated, “I have no clue what some people find appealing about the guy.”
Agreed, but there are deals to be done, & I wonder who’s making deals with him?

And also, in this case (as proven by FLaT), there’s just plain ignorance.
At least your 8,198 subscribers (presumably & hopefully, many of them are Chicago voters) will read this, & will also click on your enlightening links & will–this MUST be done, readers!!–forward this to friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues who vote in Chicago.
&, also, make sure EVERYONE you know is a REGISTERED VOTER.
