Once–just once–I would like to see an “anointed” child just say no. You know, as in, “I think that to be an effective and democratic leader, it would best serve my constituents if I stayed in the office to which I was elected. I work for them, and I pledge to do my best to fulfill the duties of my position as a public servant.”
Aside from that, what’s with all this hopping from office to office, as if it were a mere checkerboard? Get to the other side, and you are crowned King. Or, in this case, Queen.
