Dan Biss is in deep doo-doo with fellow Dems.

There is some good pension news coming from Springfield today.

The first is that State Senate President John Cullerton’s Senate Bill 1 is in big trouble.

SB1 is the mash-up bill that includes the blatantly unconstitutional Biss/Cross/Nekritz pension bomb with the also-unconstitutional Cullerton forced-choice of health care or COLA.

The other good news is that Senator Dan “I don’t know much about the Constitution” Biss is in deep shit with his Democratic pals.

This is coming from Springfield sources including Rich Miller.

One reason that Cullerton’s bill is in trouble is what I reported the other day. The Civic Committee folks and other corporate groups don’t think it goes far enough. And that’s enough to get Cullerton zilch support among Republicans. The GOP is much happier with the Biss bill and don’t like it that Cullerton has attached it to SB1. They think that Cullerton is doing it to assure that the courts will throw it out in favor of his forced-choice option.

Are you following?

In any case, Miller is reporting that Cullerton is furious. At GOP Senate leader Christing Rodogno. But also at  Democratic Senator Dan Biss.

“There is palpable hostility toward Biss in (Senate Democratic) caucus for participating in the move which killed the Senate President’s bill, so he could very well get tossed under the bus today.  We’ll see soon enough,”  says Miller.

  1. I think palpable hostility is great name for a band.
