Additonal costs? Springfield Journal story is bad news for pension-killer bill.

The Springfield State-Journal Register is the paper of record for Illinois legislators.

That’s why it isn’t great news for the Civic Committee, Ty Fahner and GOP House leader Tom Cross that today they decided to put on the front page a story that features mostly negatives about SB512.

Displayed prominently is the news that a report from the Teacher Retirement System predicts $62 million in additional and previously unexpected costs in the three-tier system that the goofs at the Civic Committee came up with but didn’t think through.

For those who are contacting their legislative representatives, this would be a good link to include.

The three-day veto session starts tomorrow, Tuesday and ends Thursday.

  1. I think it is all over SB512 will pass I base this on some facts:

Today Rep Cross added amendment 2 which is 314 pages long
The original was 274 so concerns about extra costs have been
    addressed by adding 40 pages.
The bill was sent to the rules committee, where most bills die,
but now sits in the pension committee for a hearing tomorrow.
If the votes were not there it would never have gotten this far.
Assuming the worst they won’t stop now. Mark my words
Within six months a new campaign will begin to educate the
Voters about how current pensioners are bankrupting the state.
Last year new teachers, this year current teachers, next year
Retired teachers like me what a world.
