You’ve got to admit that Pat Quinn was the better alternative to Bill Brady, the conservative idiot who claimed that he would eliminate the state’s thirteen billion dollar deficit without raising taxes. Of course, we wouldn’t have had the George Ryan debacle if Glenn Poshard had won the election in 1998, and we wouldn’t have the other former governor (Blago) in prison if Paul Vallas had won the Democratic nomination in 2002. The good news is that we got it right with Barack Obama in 2004, and our state’s redemption became both a national and international redemption after the Bush/Cheney disaster of eight painful years.
But Fred, our current IEA president personally assured me two years ago In a conversation that Quinn “won’t forget who brought him to the dance” (her words). How could this happen?

What I admit is that Quinn betrayed his labor base on a range of issues, pensions not least of all.
