The online petition set up by former IEA President and retired teacher activist Bob Haisman is approaching 4,000 signatures. It calls on Governor Quinn to restore his cuts to TRIP, the health insurance program for retired teachers.
Finally today the IEA has an email form to send on the topic.
Nobody would notice that it is there except that it showed up on Facebook. There’s nothing on the IEA website splash page that even mentions it.
You have to know to go to the pull down menu “legislative/political” and then go to “contact your legislator.”
Yesterday a member asked me why? Are they in cahoots with the governor?
“Just asleep at the wheel,” I said.
