Notes from north of the border.

As the Wisconsin Senate is about to pass the most anti-union legislation in the country, aimed squarely at those working in public service, there is this:

  • Madison public schools are closed because most teachers are at the Capitol protesting the law.
  • Protesters have moved into the Capitol and are blocking the doors of Senators.
  • Democratic Senators have walked out of the chambers.
  • Over the past few days, over 50,000 demonstrators have surrounded and entered the Wisconsin Capitol.
  • Obama calls Wisconsin bill “an assault on unions.”
  • Several sit-ins are being coordinated near Capitol entrances so the lone Dem senator supposedly still left in the state cannot enter building.
  • 100% of Wisconsin teachers are found to have a higher education than Governor Scott Walker.
  • The Nation is giving live reports “from ground zero in the fight for labor rights.”
  • The Wisconsin PTA throws in with the teachers.
  • Wisconsin students are part of the new youth revolt. They are the “soul of the protest.”
  • Fox calls Tea Party rallies patriots expressing their rights, and freedom. But Wisconsin protests are crazed, dangerous and hateful unions.

  1. I heard that for every dollar spent on a Headstart child the state will gain 9 dollars back on investment by having the child become a productive member of society and not a cost to the system.

Walker has it in for Democratic fundraising. Cutting what he is directly reduces the amount of $$$ for Democratic Party support.
