  1. As I stated on an earlier Klonsky post retirees might just as well write a check directly to ADM as this is what it will amount to: diminished pensions to retirees and tax reductions to all Illinois businesses.

  2. I live right across the border. The problem is Indiana is waiting to take all the jobs away from Illinois. The front page of the local The Times of NW Indiana or the Business section brag if there is a company that moves here.

Indiana has also lowered the taxes on corporations (raised mine 1.5%) and has cut all types of social services. Our conservative GOP leaders are pushing vouchers and expanding charter schools. Public education is underfunded. Our roads are crumbling, the air is polluted, salaries are lower than the median US standard, infrastructure is crumbling, , teenagers have a higher pregnancy rate than the rest of the US, the state is eighth fattest in the nation and teachers are targets for salaries based on test scores. But…Indiana brags about having a budget. Our current Tea bagger Governor Pence believes he is a candidate for President.

What more is there to say? The ‘new reality’ of corporations demanding payments and new subsidies so that pensioners have to take a pension cut just plain stinks. Who cares about the middle class or the poor?

  3. That must be the name of a retired teacher they want to honor, right? We live in a sad time in this country. We are becoming the land many of our grandparents left.
