Keeping retirement Weird. Democrats are the Mike Huckabees of the north shore.

weird retirement

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, presidential candidate and TV talk show host went off Republican script the other day to call women a polite form of the word slut.

Something about an active libido.

The press went ballistic. Another example of the Republican War on Women.

And so it was.

There’s another Republican who is running up in the 9th Illinois Congressional District.

Susanne Atanus is a candidate in the Republican primary to select who will lose to current Democrat Jan Schakowsky.

Susanne is crazy.

I am not in favor of abortions, I am not in favor of gay rights,” Atanus, who has staged two previous unsuccessful runs for Congress, said during a videotaped portion of the interview, before going into more detail with the paper.

“God is angry. We are provoking him with abortions and same-sex marriage and civil unions,” she added, blaming natural disasters like tornadoes and diseases including autism and dementia on recent advances in the LGBT movement. “Same-sex activity is going to increase AIDS. If it’s in our military it will weaken our military. We need to respect God.”

In a previous candidate questionnaire for ABC Chicago, Atanus also suggested she does not believe in global warming and she claims the stock market crash of 1929 never actually happened.

Next Tuesday our chapter of IEA Retired, the Skokie Organization of Retired Educators (SORE) had planned a soup kitchen outside the office of Democratic State Representative Robin Gabel. We want to demonstrate the disastrous economic impact her vote on Senate Bill 1 will have on retired teachers in her district.

With all the wackos in the Republican Party and their War on Women, why on earth would we be demonstrating outside of an Evanston Democrat’s district office?

Now, the fact of the matter is that we had to postpone our soup kitchen (we were also going to serve half a COLA). They are forecasting a high of minus five degrees with wind chills of minus thirty-five or lower.

We’re angry, but not crazy.

Some right-wing loonies also think the cold winter is God’s punishment for homosexuality.

I think God is just punishing me for moving from Southern California.

Back to Robyn Gabel and why we are demonstrating against her instead of loony Susanne.

That is because every single Democrat, both Senators and House members from the north suburbs where our SORE chapter is have voted to cut retired teacher pensions.

Talk about your War on Women.

Elaine Nekitz, Dan Biss, Laura Fine, Kelly Cassidy and Robyn Gabel.

All Democrats. All voted to violate the Illinois Constitution protecting pension benefits that mainly support retired professional women.

When it comes to hurting women, Huckabee, Atanus and the rest of the GOP have nothing on this bunch.

We are rescheduling our soup kitchen when the temperature isn’t life threatening.

  1. It’s not a question of “good Democrats” vs “bad Democrats.” We have to step away from those divisions that hide the true issue(s). It’s the top 1% vs the rest of the world. You saw, I hope, the latest stat that said 85 people in the world own half of the worlds total wealth! It’s not D vs R or any other artificial divisor of the people. It’s those who say ….”Screw everybody else, and I got the money to do it,” and everybody else. North subs a good example.

  2. “Bruce All Mighty” is the number ONE example, of “screw everyone else, and I got the money to do it!!!” He wants to be emperor of Illinois and RULE, not govern!!

  3. Indeed…when the weather allows! I would suggest that you serve soup, as the Russian saying goes, “made from the bones of a starved chicken” and do save the best bone for Robyn!
