  1. watch when he privatizes as a thank you ive been talking to city crews on the street everyone of those people were very hot at both the (ahem) mayor and their unions with words i cant use here those union leaders that posed with him on thursday when they gave their backing (not their membership) how many actually live in the city of chicago

      1. You know, Susan, I’ve been wondering about what’s been happening in the halls after kids have been tracking in snow, ice, salt & muck–I know the principals were really concerned about that. What’s been going on at your schools, CPS principal/teacher Fred readers?

  2. These unions are more representative of the private sector and do not give a damn about public employees who are members of these unions. When I was a member of the plumbers union when I worked for the city I had called them for a couple of issues and all they ever gave me was lip service. The response I would get would be…”Shut up, you are lucky you have a job.”

    1. I just read where the fire fighters endorsed Rahm after he loaded them up with perk and promises. Wow! Does anybody know who the policeman’s union has endorsed?

    2. The lucky thing is true. I’m a retired private commercial plumber. There are many plumbers who work for the city who never apprenticed to become a journeyman. Yet they get paid union wages for lack of knowledge. If the city was run as a plumbing contractor, quite a few wouldn’t last long. To much politics not enough work. Their guality and quantity are non existent.

      1. You were a commercial plumber….big deal. So the card or piece of paper you carried made you special, huh. Those jobs you are referring to were called Caulker. They were jobs in the Water Dept. for people that got promoted from Laborers. So they had a knowledge of maintenance and distribution. A lot of plumbers that came on from the outside didn’t have a clue about water pipe repair or construction. Some were in fact lazy.

  3. I just do not understand this. Fred–what explanation (rather, excuse) do these people have ? Payola?

  4. Jack you are exactly right about that. Wonder if all these union representatives realize that their sweetheart 10 year contact expires after this next election? What did the little brillerina once say about the UAW, F- them. Well get ready boys you’re all up next. I would say that you’re all gonna take it in the neck but I’m afraid you’re all gonna take it a lot lower in the anatomy then that.

  5. Vote for Anthony Napolitano in 41. The only Union person in that race. A member of Local 2, CFD , former Chicago Police Officer. He will vote against all pension and insurance cuts for city workers and retired workers. FOP did not endorse anybody for Mayor.
